Pictures From COMMIT! 2010 Are Up

Good morning, ladies! I just wanted to let you know that pictures from this year’s camp are up on the COMMIT website now. You can view them at http://www.campcommit.org/scrapbook_2010. Have a fantastic day!

In Conclusion….

As I think back on Camp COMMIT 2010: Commit to God and Purity, the description that most readily comes to mind is, “refreshing.” It was immensely encouraging to see so many young ladies eager to learn more about biblical femininity and God’s desire that they keep themselves pure. Their teachable spirits and humble attitudes amazed me throughout the week. Each and every one of them had a yearning for the things of God that was inspiring, and I cannot tell you how much I appreciated their examples of how we should each seek diligently after the things of God. Their desire to guard their hearts and minds for Christ was evident by the way they soaked up the lessons and discussed the topics among themselves outside of class. It was very refreshing to know that there are so many girls who truly care about the things of God.

We were rather short-handed this year, but the staff all pitched in to pull off what was, for many, a life changing experience. Penny Barker did an awesome job as our keynote speaker and we truly appreciate the months of preparation she put into her lessons. Heather, Jazmine, Carolyn, and Elizabeth were wonderful counselors who were able to keep the girls in line while still having a ridiculous amount of fun with them. Ashlyn did an excellent job on her morning devotionals and filling in wherever we needed her on very short notice. We are thrilled that she was able to fly out here (especially since she brought my little nephew with her :). All the other speakers did fantastic and we are so thankful to each of them for the sacrifices they made in order to spend the week with us. We cannot express how grateful we are to everyone who has faithfully prayed and supported this much needed camp for girls.

To the girls who attended this year’s camp, thank you for being there! We appreciate your comments and suggestions and encourage you to leave us feedback for next year’s camp. Let us know how Camp COMMIT helped you! Take the lessons you learned with you throughout your every day lives and stick to your commitment to remain pure in body, mind and spirit. We love you and continue to pray for you each by name. Come back next year and bring even more girls!

And most of all, glory be to God for using this camp to reach so many girls. Wherever there was a need, He provided most graciously; through the whole planning process, right up to the last hour of camp. May we continue to strive to please Him in everything we do!

For Him,

Miss Brittany N.

Last Post Before Camp!

Take two…. tried to post this already, but it didn’t show up, so I’m gonna try this again:

Hello all, sorry I have been slacking on posting new articles. Can I still use the old excuse that life has been crazy? I’m leaving Friday for a two week mission trip to Peru, so I’ve been running around getting things ready for that. And then, the day I fly home, Camp COMMIT begins!

If you’re a procrastinator like me, you may not have sent in your COMMIT applications yet. There is still time and space! Fill ‘em out and send ‘em in (preferably by June 12). It’s going to be a fantastic week filled with wonderful teachings from God’s Word. You don’t want to miss it! Bring your friends, bring your cousins, bring any girl ages 12-19 that you know.

Have a wonderful next couple of weeks and I will see you June 19th for “Camp COMMIT 2010: Commit to God and Purity.”

All for God’s Glory,

Miss Brittany N.

Applications are Available!

Hello Everyone~

We are DELIGHTED to announce that applications are now available for this year’s Camp COMMIT. Join us for an insightful week designed to help young ladies further understand God’s design and desire for their lives. It is certain to be a fun week as together we study how to draw in the sweet aroma of God’s love. In our study of purity, we will discuss ways to not only help keep ourselves focused in our walk with Christ, but we will also talk about the importance of loving ourselves–and forgiving ourselves–enough to let God place His everlasting arms around us when we mistakenly step off the path He has chosen.

Camp COMMIT! is for teenage girls, ages 12-19. June 19-26

We hope you will join us this summer! The application is available on our website www.campcommit.org as a word document or a pdf. While you are on the site, be sure to look at pictures from last year’s camp.

We warmly welcome help from ladies 20 and older (especially moms and grandmothers!). In addition to the many opportunities mentioned on our “How Can I Help?” page (http://www.campcommit.org/how_can_i_help ), you can also assist by:

Cooking a meal for us (at camp or before camp).

Helping with the younger kid activities.

Driving one of the vans on Sunday (to/from church). On Thursday (to/from local community service project).

Helping with crafts or service projects.

Observing swimmers on our two swim afternoons.

Donating food, napkins, casseroles, drinks, or toilet paper, etc.

Please let us know how you can help, and don’t forget to send us your application (we only have 30 openings and we fill them on a first-come, first served basis). If you are willing to help and you need a place to stay, no problem. We gladly will do what we can to accommodate you.

Sincerely,

Wendy King

Link Policy

It has come to my attention that wordpress.com has some automatically generated links that it posts to the bottom of some of the articles. I think the idea is to get you to read other wordpress blogs that may have to do with the same topic. Please note that I do not necessarily endorse or approve of these links. The links posted to the right sidebar are some that I’ve added and I believe to be good reading material, but please use discretion when reading articles posted on outside blogs, as not every article is written from a strictly New Testament Christian point of view. Though I enjoy reading and receiving encouragement from a great many of these articles, please use discernment and always go back to the Word of God for the final authority. I trust that you will let me know if you find anything objectionable on any of these sites, and I will remove the links. So far, I have not come across anything unbiblical, but I do not read every single thing posted on these blogs. If you have some links that you think I should add, I’dd be happy to consider them!

Thanks for continuing to read the Camp COMMIT! blog and I pray you have a blessed week!

Camp COMMIT 2010 – “Commit to Purity”

It’s been an exciting few days for Camp COMMIT! On Monday we held the first camp planning session of the year and we are excited to announce that this year’s theme will be “Commit to Purity.” The camp dates are June 19-26 and our guest speaker will be the inspiring Penny Barker from Texas. Mrs. Barker attended the same congregation as my family for a few years and she has been an encouragement to me since the first time we met. I can’t wait for you all to meet her!

Lessons will range from boy/girl relationships, to Internet usage, to Bible study habits, to homemaking skills, and will include (among many more topics) everyone’s favorite class – modesty! I hope you ladies will be able to come and learn from the many women who are working so hard to make this a week that will encourage you and glorify the Lord. It’s going to be a great week so make sure you mark your calendars and send in your registration forms early.

Please keep the Camp COMMIT staff members in your prayers as we continue to work out details, raise funds, and recruit more volunteers.

For God’s Glory,

Miss Brittany N.

A New Addition

Due to Internet trouble, travels, sickness, and just pure laziness on my part, I have had trouble keeping up with the blog lately. Part of the problem is that I just don’t really know what to write about. So, to help with this problem, I have added a new page. It’s the ‘What to Write’ section where you can leave a comment about what you would like to see in future blog articles. For the few people who read this (and I really do appreciate you guys taking the time to visit me here), tell me what you would like to read. Are there certain things you are struggling with? Questions you have about Camp COMMIT? Things you would like to see discussed? I really want to be an encouragement to you in your daily walk with Christ and to write things that will be of benefit to you. I’m open to writing about any topic you are interested in reading about from worship to evangelism to boys to being a stay-at-home daughter…. Just let me know what you would like to see in the future and I will do my best to make you happy =)

All For Him,

Miss Brittany N.

With Special Thanks

Here we are, just a few weeks after the second annual Camp COMMIT, and already plans are being made for next year. As I think back over the time spent preparing for camp, the hours and love poured into making it a success, I can’t help but think how blessed we all are that there are ladies willing to do this work. The dedication of all the women who prayed and planned for the camp, some of whom were not even able to attend, has made an impact on many lives and will continue to do so as all the girls remember their time at Camp COMMIT. Three precious souls were added to the Kingdom last week as a result of the hard work of these women and the graciousness of our God, and many other hearts were turned toward the Lord.

I want to take a moment to thank these ladies for seeing the need for a concentrated effort of older women teaching the younger women, and for filling that need without any hesitation. Through all the struggles and trials that came with planning a camp for over thirty girls, these women exhibited an amazing amount of patience and perseverance. I never once heard any of them complain about the task they had set out to accomplish. They felt a burden to teach young ladies about how to prepare to be godly wives, how to be shining examples of Christ during their youth, and how to come up with practical ways to serve their communities. Without our staff members, many of the girls who attended this year would never have known what true beauty is, the kind of beauty that they all showed in their eagerness to lead young women closer to God and home. Even at times when we did not know how we would raise enough money to buy all the things necessary for the week, or what we would do about the main lectures, nobody ever doubted that God would provide. Pulling together and working alongside each other for a whole year in order to get ready for the camp required people who were willing to do any job, no matter how big or how small. Wherever there was a need, there were always several people willing to help.

Not only were there countless women involved with this work, there were also many men who contributed to the camp, giving of their time and resources to see that the week was a success. To these men and women we owe so much. I encourage each of you to take a few minutes out of your day to let them know how much you appreciate their dedication and to tell them about how it has affected your life. I hope all of the campers will return next year along with many new girls and that you all will continue to grow in the knowledge of our Lord. If you would like to be a part of helping next year’s camp succeed, please let us know! Camp COMMT would not be possible without the help of many volunteers; there is definitely something you can do to help if you are interested. May God bless you as you continue to be COMMITted to His plan for your life!

Galatians 6:9-10, “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”

All For Him,

Miss Brittany N.

Hello Camp COMMIT!

Greetings! This blog is for you! Please use it as a tool to encourage and support one another in our quest to search out God’s design and desire for our life. For those unfamiliar with Camp COMMIT!, Christian Mothers & Maidens Inspired by Titus, we have pulled together, with God’s help, an all girls 7-day camp, ages 12-19, created to provide a unique setting in which the older women of the church are encouraged to teach the younger ladies. Our vision, That They May Know Virtue, emanates from Paul’s letter to Titus, chapter Two, and provides the foundation for our work.
Humbled, as always, by His mighty hand,
Jack
